The 80th anniversary of the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Act in Washington

In the early days of winter, Washington, DC hosted a celebratory event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Acts, bringing together over 400 representatives from Chinese-American communities across the United States at Capitol Hill. In the House Office Building, Congressman Krishnamoorthi delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the injustice of the Chinese Exclusion Acts and calling for the pursuit of equal rights. A thematic video reviewed the founding principles of the United States and the history of the Chinese Exclusion Acts, underscoring the significance of abolishing these laws. Speakers expressed gratitude to those who fought for equal rights for Chinese Americans and emphasized the active participation of Chinese-American citizens in social welfare, safeguarding justice and equality under the constitution. Members of the ACAS played a crucial role, providing simultaneous interpretation services contributing to the success of the conference, and fostering unity within the Chinese-American community. This meaningful experience not only solemnly commemorates history but also lays a solid foundation for future cooperation and unity.
